What is the purpose of the EGR Tube,EGR Vacuum Solenoid and EGR Valve in automotive engines?

The EGR system is used in automotive engines to reduce NOx emissions and works by diluting the air/fuel charge with exhaust gas, lowering the combustion temperature.
