Chevrolet Blazer Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the clutch master cylinder?
A: To remove the clutch master cylinder, start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Then, under the dash, remove the lower filler panel and the lower left air conditioning duct (if equipped). Next, disconnect the pushrod from the top of the clutch pedal, which is held in place with a spring clip. To disconnect the clutch fluid hydraulic line, drive out the roll pin holding the hydraulic tube to the master cylinder using a 7/64-inch punch. Be prepared with rags, as some fluid will be lost during this step. To detach the master cylinder from the firewall, rotate it clockwise 45-degrees. On later models with an integral fluid line, use a special tool to release the quick-connector at the clutch housing. For installation, start by attaching the master cylinder to the firewall using a new seal. Hold it at a 45-degree angle and rotate it counterclockwise, being careful not to rotate it too far to avoid damage. Use a new roll pin to connect the hydraulic fluid line to the master cylinder. On later models, connect the integral fluid line to the release master cylinder. Inside the vehicle, connect the pushrod to the clutch pedal. Then, install the lower left air conditioning duct (if equipped) and the lower filler panel. Finally, fill the clutch master cylinder reservoir with the specified fluid and bleed the clutch system.
