A:
To remove the heater core, start by draining the cooling system. Then, remove the driver's-side knee bolster and disconnect the electrical connector and remove the lower airbag fasteners and airbag. Next, remove the driver's-side center console front side panel and the floor air duct bolt from the trim panel. Disconnect and remove the duct from behind the trim panel. Remove the heater core cover fastener and cover from the heater case. Then, remove the heater core tube clamps and detach the tubes from the heater core, discarding the O-rings. Finally, pull the heater core out of the housing. For installation, reverse the removal steps and be sure to use new O-rings on the heater core tubes. Refill the cooling system and reconnect the battery. For the removal of the auxiliary heater core in 2014 and 2015 models, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, disconnect the air duct from the right side, disconnect the auxiliary heater core electrical connector mounting screws, and remove the auxiliary heater core mounting screws to withdraw the core from the housing. The installation is the reverse of removal. For the removal of the auxiliary heater core in 2016 and later models, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, disable the airbag system, remove the instrument panel lower trim panel from the passenger's side, remove the passenger's airbag fasteners, carefully lower the airbag and disconnect the electrical connector, disconnect the air duct from the right side, disconnect the auxiliary heater core electrical connector mounting screws, and remove the auxiliary heater core mounting screws to withdraw the core from the housing. The installation is the reverse of removal.
