Bend the wire in multiple places to check its flexibility. Disconnect the wire at the distributor, checking for corrosion and a secure fit. Reinstall the boot or retaining ring onto the distributor. Repeat this process for the remaining spark plug wires, ensuring they are securely fastened at both ends. Additionally, a visual check can be done in a darkened garage, observing each wire for arcing or sparks while the engine is running. If replacement is necessary, purchase a new set of wires specific to your engine model and replace each wire individually to avoid mixing up the firing sequence.
