Q:
How do you remove the Steering Knuckle? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the driveaxle/hub, start by loosening the driveaxle/hub nut and the wheel lug nuts. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Next, remove the brake disc and the ABS wheel speed sensor. Loosen the strut-to-knuckle nuts and separate the control arm from the steering knuckle by separating the control arm balljoint. Also, separate the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle arm. Finally, detach the steering knuckle from the strut and remove the knuckle. To install the knuckle, guide it into position and insert the driveaxle into the hub. Install the strut-to-knuckle bolts and nuts, and connect the balljoint to the knuckle, tightening the nut to the correct torque specifications. Attach the tie-rod end to the steering knuckle arm and tighten the nut to the proper torque specifications. Then, tighten the strut-to-knuckle bolts to the exact torque specifications. Install the wheel speed sensor and harness bracket, followed by the brake disc and caliper/mounting bracket assembly. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts and driveaxle/hub nut to the proper torque specifications. It is also recommended to have the front-end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
