To remove and install standard, manual remote, or electric remote side view mirrors, follow these general steps. First, remove the door trim panel and inner panel water deflector, and with the glass in the down position, pull out the front part of the glass run weatherstrip. For standard side view mirrors, remove the attaching nuts from the side view mirror base studs and then remove the side view mirror. For manual remote side view mirrors, remove the side view mirror remote control escutcheons and the door trim panel, and disconnect the inner panel water deflector. Right-side remote side view mirrors may require detaching part of the instrument panel. Remove the attaching bolts and screws from the front glass run channel lower retainer to filler, rotate the retainer rearward, and remove the noise control patch to access the screw at the belt and remove it. Remove the filler attaching screws at the top front of the window frame and then remove the side view mirror and filler from the door. For electric remote side view mirrors, disconnect the negative battery cable, and similarly, remove the side view mirror remote control escutcheons, door trim panel, inner panel water deflector, and the electrical connector for the side view mirror. Right-side remote side view mirrors may also require detaching part of the instrument panel. Follow these steps for all side view mirror types to install: Be sure the side view mirror gasket or electric wire is properly aligned, replace the side view mirror and filler on the door, and install the filler attaching screws at the top front of the window frame. Attach the nuts to the side view mirror studs and tighten them. Reinstall the screw at the belt and insert the noise control patch. Secure the front glass run channel lower retainer and filler with attaching bolts and screws, and replace the front portion of the glass run weatherstrip. For electric remote side view mirrors, ensure the electric wire is routed around the front glass run channel retainer and installed to the clip. Tighten the nuts to 72 inch lbs. (8 Nm). Finally, reconnect the negative battery cable and reset any accessories if needed.
