- A:To remove the coolant reservoir, start by using a suction device to remove as much coolant as possible from the reservoir, saving it if it is in good condition. Then, remove the two bolts securing the reservoir to the vehicle and lift it up to disconnect the overflow hose. If the reservoir is going to be reused, clean it with soapy water and a brush to remove any deposits and inspect it for cracks. If any cracks are found, replace the reservoir.
