Q:
How do you remove and install the front stabilizer bar on Cadillac ElDorado and Fleetwood? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove and install the Sway Bar Kit on a Deville or Fleetwood, start by raising and supporting the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies, as well as the Sway Bar Kit link bolts from the lower control arms and the Sway Bar Kit bushing brackets from the frame. Disconnect the tie rod ends from the steering knuckles using a separator tool, and disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Turn the passenger side strut all the way to the right, then slide the Sway Bar Kit over the steering knuckle and pull it down until it clears the frame. To install, slide the Sway Bar Kit back into position, loosely installing the mount bushings, brackets, and bolts. Loosely install the Sway Bar Kit link components to the lower control arms, then connect the tie rod ends to the steering knuckles and tighten the nuts. Tighten the Sway Bar Kit bracket bolts and the Sway Bar Kit link bolt nuts. Finally, reconnect the exhaust pipe to the manifold, install the wheel and tire assemblies, and lower the vehicle. For Eldorado and Seville models, the process is similar, with the additional steps of removing the road sensing suspension position sensor from the lower control arm and disconnecting the exhaust pipe from the manifold. The Sway Bar Kit is then positioned and installed, followed by the reconnection of the exhaust pipe and the installation of the bushings, brackets, and Sway Bar Kit links. The bracket bolts and Sway Bar Kit link nuts are tightened, and if applicable, the road sensing suspension position sensor is reinstalled. Finally, the right side wheel and tire assembly is installed and the vehicle is lowered.
