To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the pressure by removing the fuel tank filler cap and relieving the fuel system pressure. Then, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and use a siphoning kit to transfer the fuel into an approved gasoline container. Next, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove the frame brace and, if applicable, the shield over the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel supply and return lines, as well as the evap vapor lines from the vapor canister. Remove the fuel filler hose from the tank and disconnect the electrical connectors from the tank pressure sensor and the evap vent valve. Position a transmission jack under the fuel tank to support it, and remove the brace that passes under the tank. Unscrew the fuel tank strap bolts and remove the straps. Lower the tank slightly and disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel pump module. Finally, lower the jack and remove the tank from the vehicle. To install the fuel tank, simply reverse the removal process.
