Q:
How to replace the air conditioning pressure sensor for Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
A:
The HVAC Pressure Switch is threaded onto a Schrader valve, meaning it is not necessary to discharge the air conditioning system to replace it. This switch is used to monitor excessively high and low system pressures and will prevent the system from operating if either condition occurs. To replace it, first unplug the electrical connector from the switch. Then, unscrew the switch from the Schrader valve, using a back-up wrench on the fitting for the switch to prevent damaging the refrigerant line. Lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil of the correct type. Screw the new switch onto the threads until hand tight, and then tighten it securely. Finally, reconnect the electrical connector.
