Q:
How do I replace a manual antenna for Buick Century and Regal? Posted by Customer
A:
To replace the manual antenna, start by disconnecting the antenna cable from the radio underneath the dash. Then, unscrew the antenna from the fender and remove it from the car with the cable still attached. To install the new antenna, insert the cable lead into the fender wheel and route it towards the radio, attaching it to the back of the radio. Screw the antenna mast into the fender and check its operation. For fixed antenna routing, remove the mast from the base and the trim piece from the antenna housing. Disconnect the housing mounting screws and remove the antenna lead-in cable, routing it out through the engine compartment. Remove the antenna base assembly and install the new base assembly, routing the lead-in cable towards the radio. Secure the antenna housing with the mounting screws and tighten them. Install the trim for the antenna housing and attach the antenna to the base. For power antenna installation inside the fender, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the instrument panel sound absorber pad. Disconnect the antenna lead-in and harness connector from the relay assembly. Apply masking tape to the rear edge of the fender and door. If necessary, remove the inner to outer fender retaining screws and the front wheel assembly. Remove the lower rocker panel and inner splash shield from the fender, as required. Remove the upper antenna retaining nut and the antenna to bracket retaining bolts, then remove the antenna. To install the power antenna, fit it into position and loosely install the antenna gasket and upper nut. Loosely install the antenna to bracket retaining bolts and tighten the upper antenna retaining nut and the antenna to bracket retaining bolts. Complete the installation in reverse order and apply silicone grease to the harness connector before reconnecting the negative battery cable. Finally, check the operation of the antenna mast and reset any affected accessories.

(0.9m) length of wire to the lead-in connector to aid in pulling the new lead-in into place, remove the lower windshield reveal molding and the air inlet grille, unplug the pigtail connector from the antenna lead-in connector at the cowl, remove the two attaching screws and the antenna lead-in to the cowl, pull the lead-in out until the wire attached in the previous step is accessible, disconnect the wire from the lead-in, wrap the pull-in wire around the new antenna lead-in and start feeding the lead-in through the cowl, apply RTV sealer to the cowl where the lead-in attaches to the cowl, pull the lead-in into place, then install the attaching screws, engage the pigtail connector to the antenna lead-in, install the air inlet grille and the reveal molding, remove the pull-in wire from the antenna lead-in connector, then plug the lead-in into the radio.
