A:
When replacing components of the throttle body/injector assembly, it is important to relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. The throttle body should be removed by disconnecting the electrical connector and fuel supply and return lines. The throttle body should also be removed by draining the cooling system, removing the air intake duct and resonator, detaching electrical connectors and vacuum hoses, and removing the accelerator cable and bracket. The upper intake manifold and throttle body can be removed by taking out the ignition coil/module assembly and EVAP purge valve, and then carefully removing the upper intake manifold. The poppet nozzles should be detached by squeezing the tabs together and pulling them straight out. The throttle body can be removed by prying the bracket locking tabs away and pulling the assembly off the bracket. The fuel injector hold-down plate should be removed and the injector can be pushed out of the throttle body. The fuel pressure regulator can be removed by taking off the retaining clip. During installation, it is important to replace O-ring seals, lubricate them with engine oil, and check the filler disc for contamination. The injector should be pressed into the throttle body until seated, and the injector hold-down plate and nuts should be installed. The throttle body should be installed onto the intake manifold bracket, and the poppet nozzles should be snapped into place. The fuel lines should be installed onto the throttle body, and the bracket should be installed. The throttle body seal should be inspected and replaced if necessary, and the throttle body should be installed. After installation, the fuel lines and throttle body should be checked for fuel leakage.
