To remove and install the instrument cluster in Cadillac DeVille and Fleetwood vehicles, begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Next, remove the upper trim pad by carefully prying out the A/C outlets and removing screws from behind each outlet and three screws through the defroster outlet. Remove the glove box module retaining screws, detach the wiring connectors from the switches and light, and remove the glove box module. Remove two screws working through the glove box opening, detach the in-vehicle temperature sensor electrical connector and aspirator tube, and remove the upper trim pad. Proceed to remove the two screws and the plate, followed by the instrument cluster attaching screws. Label and detach the wiring connectors, remove the shift indicator cable clip, and take out the instrument cluster. To install, position the instrument cluster, attach the electrical connectors, and install the attaching screws, tightening them to 13 inch lbs. (1.5 Nm). Install the plate with the two screws and then the upper trim pad in reverse order of removal. Finally, install the shift indicator cable clip and adjust the shift indicator as instructed. For 1990-91 Eldorado and Seville models, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and then remove the instrument cluster trim plate by taking out the left side A/C vent, the radio trim plate, and the retaining screws and trim plate. Remove the screws and the filter lens, the two screws and the telltale warning lamp lens, and the trip odometer reset button. Finish by removing the two instrument cluster retaining screws and the cluster itself. To install, align the instrument cluster with the electrical connectors and push it into the instrument panel, securing it with the two retaining screws. Install the trip odometer reset button, the telltale warning lamp lens, the filter lens, and the instrument cluster trim plate in reverse order of removal, and reconnect the negative battery cable. For 1992-98 Eldorado and Seville models, disconnect the negative battery cable and pull the specified fuses from the fuse panels. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel by prying up the defroster grille, removing sensors, unscrewing retaining screws through the defroster grille opening, and removing A/C vents and screws through the vent openings. Remove the upper trim panel and detach two electrical connectors on top of the instrument cluster. Remove the four cluster-to-instrument panel retaining screws and, if equipped with a digital cluster, the two screws securing the PRNDL mechanism. Raise the cluster, remove it, and to install, position the cluster to the instrument panel, ensuring analog needles are at zero. If equipped with a digital cluster, install the PRNDL mechanism screws, then the cluster-to-instrument panel retaining screws, attach the electrical connectors, and install the instrument panel upper trim panel in reverse order of removal. Finally, install the fuses in the fuse panel and reconnect the negative battery cable.
