- Q:How do you remove the Compressor? Posted by Customer
- A:To remove the air conditioning system, start by discharging and recovering the refrigerant. Then, disconnect the battery cable and raise the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands after setting the parking brake and blocking the rear wheels. Remove the drivebelt, right front wheel, plastic splash shield, oil filter, and engine splash shield. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor and plug the open fittings. For 2000 to 2005 models, remove the secondary air pump and disconnect the brake line retaining clips. For 2006 and later models, remove the windshield washer solvent container and unbolt the compressor from the mounting bracket. To install the new compressor, transfer the clutch if necessary and add the proper amount of refrigerant oil. Then, reverse the removal steps using new o-rings or flat sealing washers. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
