The right rear quarter trim panel should be removed, and the air conditioning lines should be detached from the rear evaporator core fittings on the underside of the vehicle.

To remove the front heater core, the air conditioning system must be discharged and the battery cable disconnected. The cooling system should be drained and the air conditioning lines detached from the evaporator core fittings at the firewall. The heater hoses should be disconnected from the engine side of the firewall using a special tool, and the engine cover, battery, and accumulator removed. The instrument panel should be placed in the service position, and the drain tube at the firewall disconnected. The heating/air conditioning unit should be removed from the vehicle by removing fasteners, electrical connectors, and ground straps. The heater core cover should be removed, and the heater core slid out of the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the cooling system should be refilled and the air conditioning system charged. To remove the rear (auxiliary) heater core, the right rear quarter trim panel should be removed, and the air conditioning lines detached from the rear evaporator core fittings on the underside of the vehicle. The heater hoses should be clamped off and disconnected from the inlet and outlet fittings, and the upper auxiliary air duct removed. The rear heating/air conditioning unit should be removed from the vehicle by removing mounting nuts, electrical connectors, and wiring harness retaining straps. The heater core cover should be removed, and the heater core slid out of the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the coolant level should be checked and the air conditioning system charged.
