Q:
How to remove and replace an electric cooling fan? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Unplug the electrical connector from the fan motor and position the wiring harness out of the way. Remove the fan frame-to-radiator support bolts and lift the fan assembly out of the engine compartment, taking care not to damage the radiator fins. Remove the radiator fan mounting bolts. If the fan blade is to be replaced, remove the fan retaining nut and remove the fan from the motor shaft. If the motor is to be replaced, remove the fan retaining nut and the fan, then remove the four motor-to-frame mounting bolts and detach the motor from the frame. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Q:
How do you remove the Fan Blade? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the fan motor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, disconnect the wire harness at the fan motor, making sure to release the locking tab on the electrical connector. Next, remove the bolts that attach the fan frame assembly to the radiator. Lift the fan frame assembly from the engine compartment and remove the fan from the motor by taking off the retaining nut on the fan motor output shaft. Unbolt the motor from the fan frame by removing the three mounting bolts. To install the new fan motor, secure it in the fan frame and tighten the bolts. Attach the fan and tighten the nut. Place the fan motor and frame assembly back in position and tighten the four retaining bolts securely. Plug in the electrical connector and reconnect the negative battery cable. Finally, check for proper operation as the engine warms up to operating temperature.
