Clean and dry the pan, remove the filter from the valve body inside the transmission, and install a new seal and filler, if necessary. Ensure the transmission pan's gasket surface is clean, then attach a new gasket and install the pan against the transmission, securing all bolts. Tighten each bolt gradually to the specified torque. Reinstall components removed for pan bolt access, lower the vehicle, and add about 4 quarts of the specified automatic transmission fluid through the filler tube. With the engine running at a fast idle and the transmission in Park, cycle the gear selector through each range and back to Park before letting the engine idle. Check the fluid level, which is likely to be low, and add fluid as needed to reach the proper mark on the dipstick, avoiding overfilling. Lastly, inspect for leaks under the vehicle during initial trips and recheck the fluid level when the transmission is hot.

Remove the filter from the mount inside the transmission. If the seal did not come out with the filter, remove it from the transmission. The new seal can be driven squarely into place using a socket of the appropriate size. Install the new filter.
