Q:
How to remove the Flywheel in a Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
A:
Remove the transmission. If your vehicle has a manual transmission, the pressure plate and clutch will also have to be removed. Jam a large screwdriver in the starter ring gear or driveplate hole to keep the crankshaft from turning, then remove the mounting bolts. A large screwdriver can be used to hold the driveplate from turning while the mounting bolts are loosened or tightened. Since it's fairly heavy, support the flywheel as the last bolt is removed. Pull straight back on the flywheel/driveplate to detach it from the crankshaft. On some models there may be a spacer-shim installed between the driveplate and crankshaft, and automatic transmission-equipped models have a retainer ring between the bolts and the driveplate. On manual transmission equipped vehicles, check the pilot bushing and replace it if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to align the hole in the flywheel/driveplate with the dowel pin in the crankshaft, if used. Use non-hardening thread-locking compound on the bolt threads and tighten them.

Q:
How to remove and install a Chevrolet C1500 and K1500's transmission? Posted by Customer
A:
Remove the transmission. If your vehicle has a manual transmission, the pressure plate and clutch will also have to be removed. Jam a large screwdriver through the driveplate (on automatic transmission models) or in the starter ring gear (on manual transmission models) to keep the crankshaft from turning, then remove the mounting bolts. Hold the crankshaft to keep it from turning while you loosen/tighten the bolts. Since it's fairly heavy, support the flywheel as the last bolt is removed. Pull straight back on the flywheel/driveplate to detach it from the crankshaft. Installation is the reverse of removal. The driveplate must be mounted with the torque converter pads facing the transmission. Be sure to align the hole in the flywheel/driveplate with the dowel pin or untapped hole in the crankshaft. Use thread locking compound on the bolt threads and tighten them to the specified torque in a criss-cross pattern.
