How do you remove and install the hub and bearing assembly on Cadillac ElDorado and Fleetwood? Posted by Customer
A:
Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For Deville and Fleetwood 1990-93 models, remove the brake drum, the retaining bolts, and the hub and bearing assembly from the axle. If equipped with anti-lock brakes, be careful working around the sensor wires; disconnect them as needed. Install the hub and bearing assembly with the retaining bolts and tighten the bolts to 52 ft. Ibs.(70Nm). Reconnect the anti-lock brake sensor wire, as necessary. Install the brake drum, the wheel and tire assembly, and lower the vehicle. For Eldorado and Seville 1990-92 models, remove the rear brake caliper by loosening the parking brake cable at the adjuster, lifting up on the end of the cable spring to free the end of the cable from the lever, removing the bolt and washer attaching the cable support bracket to the caliper, and removing the caliper mounting bracket bolts and suspending the caliper in the wheel well with wire. Do not disconnect the brake hose or allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose. If equipped, remove and discard the disc brake rotor retainers and remove the disc brake rotor. Remove the hub mounting bolts and remove the hub and bearing assembly. Position the hub and bearing assembly on the knuckle and install the mounting bolts. Tighten to 52 ft. Ibs.(70 Nm). Install the disc brake rotor, the caliper with new mounting bracket bolts, and the parking brake cable support bracket. Adjust the parking brake. Install the wheel and tire assembly and lower the vehicle.For 1993-98 Eldorado and Seville, and 1994-98 Deville, remove the parking brake cable bracket from the knuckle. Remove and discard the caliper mounting bracket bolts. Remove the caliper and suspend it in the wheel well with wire. Do not disconnect the brake hose or allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose. Remove the disc brake rotor. Remove the hub mounting bolts and remove the hub and bearing assembly. Install the hub and bearing assembly and tighten the mounting bolts to 52 ft. Ibs. (70 Nm). Install the disc brake rotor, the caliper with new mounting bracket bolts, and the parking brake cable bracket. Install the wheel and tire assembly and lower the vehicle.
