Q:
How do you remove and install an intake manifold on V8 engine for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove and install an intake manifold, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and relieving fuel system pressure. Remove the air filter housing outlet duct and the alternator. Label and disconnect all engine wiring harnesses that obstruct intake manifold removal, including harness retainers and clips, then move them aside. Disconnect the power brake vacuum hose, canister purge solenoid hose, fuel line from the fuel rail, and PCV hose from the intake manifold. Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors or vacuum hoses connected to the intake manifold or throttle body. Loosen the intake manifold mounting bolts incrementally in reverse order until they can be removed by hand. The manifold may be stuck, so you might need to use a pry bar to break the gasket seal gently. Lift and remove the intake manifold while checking for any remaining attachments. For installation, clean the gasket surfaces thoroughly, avoiding aggressive scraping that can damage sealing surfaces, and wipe them with safety solvent. Remove any debris from bolt holes using a tap and compressed air, position new gaskets on the manifold ensuring they snap into place, then carefully place the manifold and tighten the bolts to specified torque in the recommended sequence. Avoid overtightening. Finish by reversing the removal steps, starting the engine, and checking for vacuum leaks at the intake manifold joints.

Q:
How do I remove the intake manifold on 4.3L V6 engine for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe and GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali,Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the intake manifold, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the coolant and remove the ignition coil and EVAP canister tube. Disconnect the heater hoses, throttle body wiring, and various electrical connectors. Remove the PCV valve hose, power brake booster hose, and radiator hose. Take off the water pump intake hose and drivebelt. Loosen and remove the power steering pump bracket nut and bolts. Slide the power steering pump bracket forward to access the bolt at the front of the intake manifold. Loosen the intake lower manifold mounting bolts and pry up the manifold to break the gasket seal. Finally, remove the intake manifold, ensuring that nothing is still attached. For installation, clean the mating surfaces and tap the threads in the bolt holes. Apply RTV sealant to the front and rear manifold mating surfaces and a thin coat around the coolant passage holes on the cylinder head side of the new intake manifold gaskets. Position the gaskets correctly and set the manifold in place while the sealant is still wet. Install and tighten the bolts following the recommended sequence. Complete the remaining steps in reverse order, refill the cooling system, and check for leaks at the intake manifold joints.
