For 2002 and earlier models, install the rotor and hub assembly and adjust the wheel bearings.

To inspect the brakes, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and then the brake caliper, making sure not to disconnect the brake hose. Check the disc surface for any score marks or damage, and if there are deep score marks over 0.015 inches, the disc needs to be removed and refinished. Use a dial indicator to check for disc runout, ensuring it does not exceed the specified limit. The disc thickness should also be checked with a micrometer, making sure it is not less than the specified minimum refinish thickness. For removal, on 2003 and later models, remove the caliper mounting bracket and then slide the disc off the hub. For installation, on 2002 and earlier models, install the disc and hub assembly and adjust the wheel bearings. On 2003 and later models, place the disc onto the hub and install the caliper mounting bracket, followed by the brake pads. Install the caliper and then the wheel, lowering the vehicle and tightening the lug nuts. Finally, depress the brake pedal a few times to ensure proper contact between the brake pads and disc, and thoroughly check the brake system before normal use.
