- A:For these engine types, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands.Remove the engine compartment under-cover.Locate the Bank 1 knock sensor on the left side of the engine block, just in front of the oil filter housing.Locate the Bank 2 knock sensor on the right side of the engine block, just in front of the starter.Remove the exhaust manifold.Remove the upstream catalytic converter.Remove the bolt in the center of the knock sensor and then remove the knock sensor.Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
