- A:To remove the oxygen sensor, disconnect the electrical connector, note the position of the silicone boot, and carefully unscrew the sensor using an oxygen sensor socket. When installing a new or old oxygen sensor, anti-seize compound should be used on the threads to facilitate future removal. The sensor should be tightened to the specific torque. The electrical connector of the pigtail lead should be reconnected to the main engine wiring harness.
