On 2000 and later models, whenever the crankshaft sensor is replaced or the crankshaft pulley is removed and installed, the PCM must be reprogrammed using special equipment. This should be done by a dealer service department or other qualified automotive repair facility. The two CKP sensors are located on the front of the block, just above and to the left of the oil filter. The following procedure applies to either sensor. First, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Next, disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector. To remove a CKP sensor, unplug the electrical connector and remove the sensor retaining bolt. The "B" CKP sensor, which is located right above the "A" sensor, is removed in the same way. After that, remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt and the CKP sensor itself. Remove and inspect the CKP sensor O-ring for wear or damage. If it's worn or damaged, replace it. Coat the new O-ring with clean engine oil and install it on the CKP sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the CKP sensor retaining bolt to the specific torque. For 2006 and later models, the CKP sensor is located at the top of the engine block, under the intake manifold. Remove the intake manifold. Disconnect the CKP sensor wiring harness. Remove the CKP sensor bolt, then remove the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal.
