Q:
How do you remove the rear stabilizer bar, stabilizer bar bushing and stabilizer bar link on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the rear sway bar kit on 2009 and earlier models, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the rear wheels and detach the sway bar kit links from the bar. Remove the sway bar kit bushing bracket fasteners and pull the brackets off the bar. Inspect the sway bar bushings for any signs of damage and replace them if necessary. To install, lubricate the sway bar bushings with vegetable oil and tighten the link and bracket fasteners to the specified torque. Install the wheels, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the torque specifications. For 2010 and later models with RPO GNC rear suspension, the removal process is slightly different. Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it on jackstands. Remove the rear section of the exhaust system, parking brake cables, coil springs, and brake caliper. Detach the sway bar kit links and remove the shock absorber lower bolts. Mark the position of the subframe, support it with a floor jack, and remove the subframe mounting bolts. Lower the subframe to access the sway bar kit bracket bolts and remove them. Remove the sway bar kit and inspect the sway bar bushings for damage. The installation process involves lubricating the sway bar bushings, replacing all suspension fasteners, and tightening them to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the brake fasteners and wheel lug nuts to the torque specifications. For models with RPO GNE rear suspension, the removal process is similar to the GNC models. Remove the sway bar kit links, bracket bolts, and the sway bar kit. Inspect the sway bar bushings and replace them if necessary. The installation process involves lubricating the sway bar bushings, replacing suspension fasteners, and tightening them to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the wheel lug nuts to the torque specifications.
