How do you remove a driveaxle on Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon Denali? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the axle shaft on a vehicle, first loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Pry off the hub cover and remove the axle shaft/hub nut, bracing the hub to prevent it from rotating. Remove the differential carrier splash shield if equipped, and then remove the axle shaft-to-axle shaft flange bolts, having an assistant apply the brake to prevent the axle shaft from turning. Lower the inner end of the axle shaft and pull the stub shaft out of the hub, carefully guiding the axle shaft out from under the vehicle. To install the axle shaft, lubricate the splines on the stub shaft with multi-purpose grease before tightening the axle shaft/hub nut (new) and the flange bolts to the torque values specifications. Finally, tighten the wheel lug nuts to the proper torque specifications.
