- A:To remove the rear differential, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts and raising the rear of the vehicle with jackstands. Remove the rear wheels and block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Next, remove the driveshaft and driveaxles. Then, remove the torque tube front mounting bolt and lower the front of the torque tube to access the clutch control module and disconnect the electrical connector. Support the torque tube with a jack stand and place a floor jack under the differential assembly. Remove the differential rear mounting bolts and carefully lower and remove the differential from the vehicle. Finally, separate the torque tube from the differential. To install, follow the reverse steps of removal, ensuring to tighten all mounting fasteners to the specified torque and using a new gasket between the torque tube and differential.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
