- A:To remove the air intake duct, on V8 models, the intake manifold cover must first be removed, followed by disconnecting the PCV fresh air inlet hose and detaching the radiator hose clip. The hose clamp screws at the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and throttle body must then be loosened before lifting the duct straight up to disengage the locator pin from its insulator grommet. To remove the air filter box, the electrical connector from the MAF sensor must be disconnected before grasping the box firmly and pulling it straight up to disengage the two locator pins from their insulator grommets. While the box is out, inspect the rubber mounting grommets and replace any that are cracked, torn, or otherwise damaged. - A:At the specified intervals, the air filter element should be replaced with a new one. On all models, the air filter is housed in a black plastic box mounted on the inner fender well on the right side of the engine compartment. If you drive in conditions that are particularly dusty, the need for a filter change may be necessary before the normally recommended mileage interval. Loosen the captive screws and pull the housing cover up, then lift the air filter element out of the housing. Wipe out the inside of the air filter housing with a clean rag. Place the new filter element in the air filter housing. Make sure it seats properly in the groove of the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal.
