To remove the clutch master cylinder, start by disconnecting the master cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal pin under the dash using a small screwdriver. Then, in the engine compartment, place rags under the clutch master cylinder-to-brake master cylinder hose and prepare a cap or plastic bag to cover the end of the line and fitting once they are disconnected. Clamp a pair of locking pliers onto the clutch fluid feed hose downstream of the brake fluid reservoir, loosen the clamp, and pull the hose off, plugging the ends to prevent contamination. Disconnect the clutch fluid pressure line from the clutch pedal assembly at the firewall. Inside the vehicle, remove the clutch master cylinder fasteners from the right side of the clutch pedal bracket, and then remove the mounting bolts from the left side of the bracket and slide the master cylinder out. To install the clutch master cylinder, place it into the clutch pedal bracket and tighten the mounting fasteners to the specified torque. Connect the hydraulic line fitting to the clutch master cylinder and actuator until a "click" is heard, and insert the locking pin if necessary. Attach the fluid feed hose and remove the locking pliers. Under the dash, push the pushrod onto the clutch pedal pin. Finally, fill the reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid and bleed the clutch system. The installation process is the reverse of the removal steps.
