To remove the air intake duct, start by disconnecting the PCV fresh air inlet hose. Then, loosen the hose clamp screw at the air filter box and pull back the clamp. Next, loosen the hose clamp screw at the throttle body, pull back the clamp, and remove the duct. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps. To remove the air filter box, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the air intake duct and disconnect the electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Remove the left front diagonal brace, followed by the air filter element. Remove the upper part of the air filter box and disconnect the electrical connectors from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Remove the TCM and PCM from the air filter box, and then remove the TCM/PCM harness from the lower part of the box. The lower part of the air filter box is secured by locator pins pushed into rubber mounting grommets, which can be removed by lifting it straight up. While the air filter box is out, inspect the rubber mounting grommets and replace any that are damaged. Installation is the reverse of removal.
