Q:
How to remove and install a front hub assembly on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the hub assembly from a vehicle, first loosen the front wheel lug nuts and raise the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and, if working on a 4WD model, remove the hub cover and unscrew the driveaxle/hub nut with a socket and large breaker bar. Remove the brake disc and wheel speed sensor from the hub, then remove the hub retaining bolts from the steering knuckle and remove the disc shield. Finally, remove the hub from the steering knuckle, tapping it from side to side if necessary. To install a new hub assembly, clean the mating surfaces on the steering knuckle, bearing flange, and knuckle bore. Insert the hub and bearing assembly into the steering knuckle and, on 4WD models, onto the end of the driveaxle. Install the wheel speed sensor, brake disc, caliper mounting bracket, and caliper. On 4WD models, install the driveaxle/hub nut and tighten it to the torque specifications. Finally, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the torque specifications.
