- Q:How do you raise the rear of a Chevrolet C1500 and K1500 and remove the spring assembly and Spring Shackle? Posted by Customer
- A:Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Block the front wheels to keep the vehicle from rolling off the stands. Support the axle with a floor jack and raise it slightly to relieve the tension on the leaf springs. Remove the U-bolt nuts and washers. Remove the anchor plate. Remove the U-bolts and spacer. Loosen the shackle-to-spring nut, then remove the shackle to-rear bracket nut, bolt and washers. Remove the shackle-to-rear bracket nut, washers and bolt. Remove the spring-to-front bracket nut, washers and bolt. Remove the spring assembly from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
