Q:
How to remove the front stabilizer bar, stabilizer bar bushing and stabilizer bar link on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
A:
For 2009 and earlier models, the removal process of the front sway bar kit involves loosening the wheel lug nuts, raising the vehicle, supporting it on jackstands, and removing the wheels. The intermediate shaft pinch bolt from the steering shaft is removed, followed by the sway bar link nut and brackets. The rear part of the subframe is supported with a floor jack, and the two rear subframe mounting bolts are removed. The subframe is slowly lowered to detach the sway bar kit, making sure to separate the steering gear input shaft and shaft coupler without binding and detaching any wiring harnesses or hoses that may come under tension. The kit is carefully removed from the left side of the vehicle. During installation, the sway bar kit and sway bar bushings are installed, lubricated with vegetable oil, and positioned with the slit in each bushing facing toward the rear of the vehicle. The brackets and bolts are installed, and the subframe is raised, guiding the steering gear input shaft into the shaft coupler and securing it with the pinch-bolt and rear subframe mounting bolts. The links are reattached, and the vehicle is lowered with tightened lug nuts. For 2010 and later models, the removal process of the sway bar link involves loosening the front wheel lug nuts, raising the front of the vehicle, supporting it on jackstands, and removing the wheels. The sway bar link is detached from the strut or bar by holding the ball stud with a wrench and unscrewing the nut. Installation is simply the reverse of the removal process, and the nuts are tightened to the torque specifications. On these models, the sway bar kit bushings are not serviceable separately, so for removal and installation of the sway bar kit, the links are removed first, followed by the steps for sway bar kit removal and installation.

Q:
How do you remove the bar, bushings and links for Chevrolet Cruze? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the bushings and links, start by loosening the front wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle. Support it securely on jackstands and remove the front wheels. Then, remove and discard the nuts that attach the upper and lower ends of the sway bar links to the strut/coil spring assembly and to the sway bar. Detach the links. Lower and support the subframe enough to access the sway bar mounting brackets. Remove the bolts and nuts from the sway bar bushing brackets. Inspect the retainer bushings for cracks and tears. If any bushing is damaged, replace the sway bar and bushings as a set. Also, if the ballstuds on the links are loose or worn, replace the links. To install, guide the sway bar kit into place and install the bushing bracket bolts, tightening them to the specified torque. Then, install the links and tighten the link nuts to the proper torque. To remove the sway bar kit, detach the links from the bar and remove the sway bar bushing bracket bolts. Twist the sway bar kit up and remove it through the right wheel opening. The installation process is the reverse of the removal procedure.
