- Q:How do you remove the inside handle, outside handle and lock cylinder, and latch from a door? Posted by Customer
- A:To remove the inside handle, first disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal if the model is equipped with power components. Then, remove the door trim panel and water shield with the window glass in the full up position. Disconnect the lock rod from the handle and drill out the rivets securing the handle to the door frame. Finally, remove the handle. For installation, simply follow the reverse of the removal procedure. To remove the outside handle and lock cylinder, start by removing the door trim panel and water shield. Disengage the handle and lock cylinder from the lock rods and remove the handle-to-door nuts. Pull the handle free and detach the lock cylinder from the handle. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. To remove the latch, first disconnect the locking knob rod, inside handle rod, and inside handle lock rod from the latch assembly from inside the door. Then, remove the latch assembly retaining screws and pull the assembly free. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
