The master cylinder is located in the engine compartment, mounted to the power brake booster.

To remove the brake master cylinder, start by depressing the brake pedal multiple times to deplete the vacuum reserve. Locate the brake master cylinder in the engine compartment, mounted to the power brake booster. Remove excess fluid from the reservoir using a syringe or turkey baster, ensuring it is not used for food preparation again. Place rags under the fluid fittings and prepare caps or plastic bags to cover the line ends. Loosen the fittings at the ends of the brake lines with a flare-nut wrench, pulling the lines slightly away from the brake master cylinder and plugging the ends. Disconnect the electrical connector for the brake fluid level sensor and remove the nuts attaching the brake master cylinder to the power booster. Carefully remove the brake master cylinder, being cautious not to spill any fluid. If installing a new brake master cylinder, transfer the old reservoir by tapping out the retaining pins and installing new seals. To install the new brake master cylinder, bench bleed it by mounting it in a vise and attaching bleeder tubes to the outlet ports. Fill the reservoir with recommended brake fluid and slowly push the pistons into the brake master cylinder to expel air. Repeat until no air bubbles are present. Remove the bleed tubes and install plugs in the open ports. Install the brake master cylinder onto the power brake booster, tightening the mounting nuts finger tight. Thread the brake line fittings into the brake master cylinder by hand and fully tighten the mounting nuts and brake line fittings. Connect the electrical connector for the brake fluid level sensor. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir with fluid and bleed the brake master cylinder and brake system. Test the brake system thoroughly before using the vehicle.
