The following procedure applies only to 4.3L (2014 and earlier) V6 and 5.0L, 5.7L and 7.4L V8 engines. First, remove the engine cover. If you still need more room to work, disconnect the air intake duct or resonator from the throttle body. On 4.3L V6 (2014 and earlier) and 5.0L/5.7L V8 engines the ICD module or ICM is mounted alongside the ignition coil on a bracket, which is located on the right side of the intake manifold. On 7.4L V8 engines, the ignition coil, ICD module (or ICM) and mounting bracket is virtually identical to the setup used on the V6 and smaller V8s, but it's located at the rear of the intake manifold, right in front of the distributor. On most of these engines, you should be able to remove the ignition control module without removing the ignition coil mounting bracket from the engine. However, if it's easier for you to detach the coil, control module and mounting bracket as a single assembly, then detach the module from the bracket, that's okay too. Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition control module. Then, remove the ignition control module mounting screws and remove the module from the coil/module mounting bracket. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note: The heat sink (the component with the cooling fins on it) is also secured to the coil/ module mounting bracket by the same screws as the module. This component is critical to the operation of the module, so don't forget to install it along with the new module.
