Be sure to allow sufficient clearance between newly installed parts and all points on the underbody to avoid overheating the floor pan and possibly damaging the interior carpet and insulation. Pay particularly close attention to the catalytic converter and heat shield. Periodically inspect the heat shield for cracks, dents and loose or missing fasteners. Inspect the converter for cracks or other damage. If the catalytic converter requires replacement, it should be done promptly.
