- A:To remove the brake pedal on 1993 and later models, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. If needed, remove the driver's side knee bolster. Then, take out the brake light switch and master cylinder pushrod from the brake pedal. Check the position of the bushings and spacers, and proceed to remove the nut and pivot bolt located at the top of the pedal arm. Once the nut and bolt are removed, withdraw the pedal arm from the mounting bracket and retrieve the spacers and bushings.
