To remove the radiator on a 2004 and earlier model, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the air filter housing and air inlet duct, then drain the cooling system, saving the coolant if it's in good condition. Disconnect the expansion tank hose(s) and radiator hoses, using pliers to disengage the clamps. Remove the radiator support and cooling fans, and lift the condenser out of the mounting brackets. Unscrew the transmission oil cooler line fittings and remove the lines, if equipped. Lift out the radiator carefully, making sure not to spill coolant or scratch the paint. For a 2005 and earlier model, follow the same steps, but also have the air conditioning system discharged by a technician and remove the air conditioning condenser. Disconnect the radiator hose quick-connect fittings and remove the radiator hoses. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler line and remove the lines, if equipped. Use pliers to remove the spring clamp on the oil cooler hose, if equipped. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, making sure to inspect the radiator for leaks and damage. Fill the cooling system with the correct mixture of antifreeze and water, check for leaks, and add fluid if needed for automatic transmission-equipped vehicles. For charge air cooler radiator removal, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and raise the vehicle on jackstands. Drain the charge air cooling system and disconnect the quick-connect fittings and hoses from the CAC radiator. Remove the mounting nuts and lower the radiator out of the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, filling the charge air cooling system with the correct mixture of antifreeze and water and checking for leaks.
