- A:To remove the air conditioning system, start by discharging it and disconnecting the battery. Then, remove the radiator grille and disconnect the refrigerant inlet and outlet lines. Remove the fittings from the A/C accumulator and cap or plug the open lines to prevent dirt or moisture from entering. Finally, remove the A/C accumulator assembly by loosening the clamp bolt and lifting it out of the engine compartment. To install a new A/C accumulator, add one ounce of fresh refrigerant oil to it and place it in the bracket. Position the A/C accumulator and bracket on the mounting stud and install the inlet and outlet lines with clean refrigerant oil on the new O-rings. Tighten the mounting bolt securely and reattach the pressure cycling switch. Connect the battery and have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
