- Q:How do you remove and install a TR switch on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
- A:To remove the Automatic Transmission Shift Position Sensor Switch, first apply the parking brake and put the shift lever in NEUTRAL. Then, raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Automatic Transmission Shift Position Sensor Switch by pulling out the retainer lock, sliding the retainer out, and pulling off the connector. Pry the shift cable from the pin to disconnect it from the manual lever. Remove the manual lever nut and the manual lever itself. Finally, remove the Automatic Transmission Shift Position Sensor Switch mounting bolts and the switch itself. To install a new switch, align the slots on the switch with the notch on the switch body and install it onto the shaft. If installing the old unit, align the flats of the shift shaft with the flats of the Automatic Transmission Shift Position Sensor Switch and install it. After installing the switch, verify that the engine will start only in PARK and NEUTRAL. If it starts in any other gear, readjust the switch by loosening the mounting bolts and turning it slightly one way or the other until the engine starts only in PARK and NEUTRAL, then tighten the mounting bolts securely.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
