- A:Firstly, raise the front of the car and support it on jackstands. Then, remove the wheel. Proceed to remove the bolt that retains the balljoint to the brake caliper bracket. Using a t-in drill bit, drill approximately ¾-in deep into the center of the rivets that secure the balljoint to the lower control arm. Next, use a ½-in drill bit to drill just deep enough to remove the rivet heads. Punch out the remainder of the rivets and remove the ball joint. When reinstalling the balljoint to the lower control arm, use properly sized bolts and nuts to replace the rivets. Install the balljoint into the steering knuckle, tightening the bolt and nut to their proper torque specs. Finally, mount the wheel and lower the car to the ground.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
