- Q:How do you remove the upper Control Arm on Chevrolet C1500 and K1500? Posted by Customer
- A:This procedure applies to both 2WD and 4WD models. To remove the upper control arm, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Place a floor jack with a wood block under the lower control arm to relieve spring pressure on the upper control arm. Remove the air cleaner extension and disconnect the brake hose bracket from the upper control arm. If the vehicle has an alignment kit, mark the positions of the adjuster cams before removing the upper control arm pivot bolts and nuts. Inspect the pivot bolt bushings and replace if necessary. To install the upper control arm, position it in the frame brackets and tighten the bolts and nuts. Attach the balljoint to the steering knuckle and connect the brake hose bracket to the upper control arm. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle. Finally, reinstall the air cleaner extension if it was removed.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
