- Q:How do you install a new master cylinder for the 2005 Pontiac Vibe? Posted by Customer
- A:To install the new master cylinder, bench bleed it first by mounting it in a vise and attaching master cylinder bleeder tubes to the outlet ports. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid and slowly push the pistons into the master cylinder to expel air. Repeat until no more air bubbles are present. Remove the bleed tubes and install plugs in the open ports. Adjust the booster pushrod length if necessary and install a new O-ring on the master cylinder body. Install the reservoir cover and then the master cylinder over the studs on the power brake booster. Thread the brake line fittings into the master cylinder and fully tighten the mounting nuts and brake line fittings. Fill the master cylinder reservoir with fluid and bleed the master cylinder and brake system. Test the operation of the brake system before placing the vehicle into normal service.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
