During reinstallation, use a new gasket.

To remove the intake manifold, you can leave the throttle body and plenum assembly attached, but if you intend to remove them anyway, it might be easier to take them off before removing the manifold. Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and relieving the fuel injection system pressure. Drain the cooling system if necessary and remove the air cleaner (for carbureted models), air intake case (for throttle body fuel-injected models), or disconnect the air intake pipe (for multi-port fuel-injected models). Make sure to label and then disconnect all hoses, wires, brackets, and emission lines connected to the carburetor/throttle body and intake manifold. Disconnect the fuel lines and cap the fittings to prevent leaks. On carbureted models, disconnect the line at the carburetor, on throttle body fuel-injected models, disconnect the lines at the throttle body assembly, and on multi-port fuel-injected models, consider raising the vehicle and supporting it on jackstands for easier access. Use a back-up wrench when disconnecting the fuel feed line on multi-port fuel-injected models. Also, disconnect the throttle cable from the carburetor/throttle body and the cable running from the carburetor/throttle body to the transmission (for automatic transmission only) and the cruise control cable if applicable. On multi-port fuel-injected models, remove the three brackets that attach the intake manifold/intake plenum assembly to the engine. Use a socket, ratchet, and extension to unscrew the bolts and nuts securing the intake manifold to the engine. If it's stuck, gently tap it with a soft-face hammer, avoiding any prying or tapping on the carburetor/throttle body. Take note of the clamps' locations if there are any under the bolts or nuts. Once removed, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the manifold and cylinder head, ensuring all old gasket material is removed without scratching or gouging the aluminum surfaces. You can use gasket removal solvents if needed. Install the manifold with a new gasket, tighten the bolts and nuts progressively from the center out, and torque them appropriately. Finally, reassemble the remaining components in reverse order, add coolant, run the engine, and check for leaks and proper operation.
