- A:To remove the fuel pump/fuel level sensor, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands before removing the fuel tank. Clean the area around the fuel pump/fuel level sensor to prevent dirt from entering the tank. Disconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines from the sensor and unscrew the lockring using pliers. Carefully remove the sensor from the tank and inspect the rubber gasket for any damage. If necessary, replace the gasket. Additionally, inspect and clean the fuel pump inlet filter or strainer before reinstalling the sensor.
