Q:
How do you replace the Brake Pad? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the brake, start by removing the cap from the brake fluid reservoir and using a syringe or suction gun to remove brake fluid until the reservoir is half full. Then, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheels and inspect the brake disc. If machining is necessary, remove the disc and the pads. Before disassembling the brake caliper, wash it with brake system cleaner and let it dry. Position a drain pan under the brake to catch residue and avoid using compressed air. When working on the brakes, use only hand tools to remove or install the caliper mounting bolts, and hold the guide pin with an open-end wrench when removing or installing the rear caliper mounting bolts. Do not disconnect the brake line from the caliper unless replacing the caliper, and note the position of the inner and outer pads if removing the caliper but not replacing the pads. To reassemble the brake, replace the pads and coat the guide pin with high-temperature brake grease before reinstalling it. Tighten the mounting bolts to the proper torque specifications and depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the pads into contact with the disc. Finally, check the brake fluid level and the operation of the brakes before putting the vehicle back into normal service.
