- A:The oxygen sensor used on 1986 Samurai models should be replaced at the intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule. The sensor is threaded into the exhaust manifold and can be identified by the wires attached to it. To remove the oxygen sensor, disconnect the wire and unscrew the sensor from the exhaust manifold. Replacement consists of disconnecting the wire harness and unthreading the sensor from the manifold. Before installing it in the manifold, coat the threads with an anti-seize compound. Tighten the sensor to the torque, then reconnect the wire harness. A special oxygen sensor socket, which can be purchased at most auto parts stores, should be used.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
