Q:
What is the purpose of the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
A:
The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor monitors the intake manifold pressure changes resulting from changes in engine load and speed and converts the information into a voltage output. The PCM receives information as a varying voltage signal from closed throttle (high vacuum) to wide open throttle (low vacuum). The PCM uses the MAP sensor to control fuel delivery and ignition timing. On six-cylinder models, disconnect the MAP electrical connector. Unplug the MAP sensor electrical connector, then squeeze the retainer tabs, remove the retainer, then pull the sensor straight up and out of the manifold. Squeeze the sensor retainer inward then pull straight up and remove it. On V8 models, disconnect the MAP electrical connector. Detach the retaining clips and withdraw the MAP sensor from the upper intake manifold. Detach the clips and remove the MAP sensor from the upper intake manifold. Replace the MAP sensor seal in the upper intake manifold. Installation is the reverse of removal.

How do you remove the MAP sensor for Chevrolet Equinox,GMC Terrain and Pontiac Torrent? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the 2.4L MAP sensor, start by removing the engine cover and then disconnect the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body. Next, disconnect the electrical connector to the sensor and remove the mounting bolt and the sensor from the intake manifold. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps. For the 3.4L MAP sensor, begin by disconnecting the electrical connector and removing the bolt and hold-down bracket to detach the sensor from the upper intake manifold. To install, follow the reverse of the removal steps and ensure to use a new o-ring and tighten the hold-down bolt securely. For the 2013 and later 3.6L MAP sensor, remove the engine cover and disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor located on top of the intake manifold. Then, remove the sensor mounting bolt and pull the sensor from the manifold. To install, reverse the removal steps and remember to use a new o-ring and tighten the hold-down bolt securely.
