Q:
How do you remove the Radiator and Coolant Expansion Tank for Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the 4.3L V6, 5.3L, and 6.2L V8 engines, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, drain the cooling system and remove the plastic cover over the radiator support. Next, remove the cooling fan shroud and disconnect the surge tank hose at the radiator and the surge tank. Disconnect and remove the upper radiator hose, as well as the headlight housings. Remove the condenser upper mounting bolts and bracket retaining nut from the radiator, followed by the upper radiator support. Unclip and detach the radiator air baffle, and remove the radiator mounting bolts. Depress the condenser retaining tabs and carefully lift the condenser off of the radiator without disconnecting the condenser lines. Tilt the radiator away from the condenser, unclip the lower baffle from the bottom of the radiator, and remove the radiator from the engine compartment. For the 6.0L V8 engine, follow the same steps until step 8, where you also need to disconnect the transmission cooler lines and engine oil cooler lines from the radiator and unclip the lower section of the fan shroud. Then, remove the radiator mounting bolts and lift the radiator out of the engine compartment. To install the radiator, replace any damaged radiator hoses and hose clamps, and tighten the bolts to the torque specifications. Make sure the radiator seats properly in the lower saddles and that the upper brackets are secure. Install the cooler line retaining clips onto the quick connect fitting before installing the lines, and snap the cooler lines into place on the quick connect fittings. Reinstall the plastic collars on the quick connect fittings to lock the retaining clip in place. After installation, refill the cooling system and check the engine oil and automatic transmission fluid levels. To remove the coolant reservoir, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and drain the cooling system. Remove the air filter housing and detach the coolant hoses from the reservoir. Unscrew the mounting fasteners and remove the reservoir. Prior to installation, ensure the reservoir is clean and free of debris. Install the reservoir by reversing the removal steps, refill the cooling system, and check for leaks.
